SAN JOSE — J.T. Reed stomps into the trenches at 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing 295 pounds with a singular mentality.
“For me it’s more of like feeling that I’m the best player on the field,” Reed said.
The 17-year-old senior at Valley Christian is a three-star recruit as a defensive tackle who just recently received his fifth scholarship offer. But at his size and with his projectability, Reed flew somewhat under the radar until the first college stepped up in April.
“Coming into my junior year I had nothing, I had no offers,” Reed said. “I had a couple of schools talking to me, but that’s about it. But just being patient, waiting it out, working out hard in the weight room, on the field and in the classroom, as well, this spring it really picked up.”
